Inspiration
Inspired by the character of Cotswold-style homes, this bed reinterprets traditional details through a modern lens. I explored elements like cane applied to an updated silhouette, alongside plush upholstery, to create a balance of classic charm and contemporary comfort.
CONCEPTS
I began by sketching a range of bed forms, exploring ways to integrate cane into wood frames while incorporating upholstery for added softness. The cane design offered a fresh yet complementary addition to our assortment and was selected to move forward into development.

I developed a comprehensive spec package for the Richmond bed, detailing dimensions, construction callouts, materials, and finishes to guide the product through development and production.
first sample
The vendor produced the first sample based on my specifications. Our team traveled in-country to conduct the initial sample review, evaluating the form, construction, and finish, and providing feedback for refinement.
final sample
The final sample incorporates refinements from previous reviews and is evaluated alongside the broader collection to ensure consistency in design, materials, and overall aesthetic.
Final product
The Richmond bed offers a modern interpretation of the traditional cane bed. Carved wood framing and turned legs lend a classic feel, while its clean silhouette brings a fresh, contemporary perspective to Cotswold-inspired interiors.
